Serged
Reversible Braided Table Runner
Sew Day will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
at Hawk’s Landing Studio, 648 Hayden Drive, Pueblo West. Learn Sue Longsdorf’s Serge, Flip, & Quilt, a
quilt-as-you-go technique using your serger. Also your sewing machine is used
for the quilting aspect and the binding … if you want. And yes! You are able to
create this runner using your sewing machine only.
Supplies:
Serger with
thread compatible to your fabrics.
Your manual –
just in case!
Sewing machine
with thread, ready to quilt.
Basic sewing
& serging supplies.
Fabrics will
depend on whether you want a three fabric braid, a scrappy look, or a multitude
of combinations between. The Reversible Braided Table Runner will have six
braids per side, front & back. If you want to fussy-cut the large and small
squares, remember they’re set on point.
The runner will
be 12” x 38”-50”, depending on how your seams are created.
Have the following fabrics pressed &
cut, ready to serge:
2: 9.5” x 9.5”
squares
24: 2.5” x 2.5”
squares
48: 2.5” x 9.5”
strips
Low Loft Batting: (I tend to cut long
2.5” strips and cut to length as I serge.)
1: 9.5” x 9.5”
square
24: 2.5” x 9.5”
24: 2.5” x 11.5”
Binding:
4: 2.5” x WOF
(Width of Fabric).
Note: You may
bring both machines for the full benefit of Sue’s Serge, Flip, & Quilt technique. Otherwise, leave your sewing
machine at home and you’ll have homework to do prior to Monday night’s meeting.
All participants need to bring their
projects to Monday night’s meeting for the ShowNShare portion of the program.
Hey! I’m not doing it all myself!
