PUEBLO WEST QUILTERS

NEWSLETTER FOR JUNE 4, 2012 MEETING

Website: pueblo-west-quilters.blogspot.com / email:
pwquiltersguild@gmail.com

Hope you had a wonderful and thoughtful Memorial Day, remembering
those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to insure the freedoms we
should not take for granted.
June’s PWQ program will be a demonstration by Denise Hovey of Creative
Cloth Closet in Canon City. She always has fun, new ideas and
techniques for us. She will have some items from her shop for sale at
the meeting, so you might want to bring extra checks or that green
stuff.

Some reminders: Colorado Quilting Council meeting on June 23, 2012 is
in Pueblo. Please bring a fat quarter to donate for the attendees of
the CQC meeting. Canon City is hosting the July 28 CQC and I encourage
you to support that meeting also. As of this writing, there still are
spaces available for the Rob Appel workshop on July 29, in Canon City.
Go to the CQC website to find out more information.

We only have a few fabrics left that was donated to the club for
fundraising for sale at $4.00/yd. Support your club, get fabric!

Remember to bring your completed squares from the strips you cut at
the April PWQ meeting for Ben and Gabby's quilt. Return all left over
fabric pieces with your squares at the meeting as they will be used in
the borders and binding. There will be a SEW Saturday at the PW
Library from 9:00am to 4:00pm on June 9. Please plan to come and help
sew the squares together, even for only a few minutes. Calling all
long arm quilters to offer to quilt Ben and Gabby’s quilt. Please
submit a written bid by the July 9th meeting for this queen sized
quilt for consideration by the Board. The quilt must be quilted by the
Aug 6th meeting so the border can be put on and the quilt completed by
the Sept 10 meeting.

And don't forget to fill out a personal challenge pledge form for the
STEP-UP to a Higher Level of Excellence challenge. A new challenge
idea will be presented at the June meeting for you to consider as your
STEP-UP personal challenge.

Plan ahead for the July 9 meeting - We’re having an Independence Day
Celebration, PWQ style. Food, fun, games, drawings. Sew N Share will
be only red, white and blue quilts: red and white, blue and white,
tone on tone, all three colors, whatever you have, please bring it to
share whether you have shown your item before or not. Limit of 3 items
per person, please.

PUEBLO WEST QUILTERS NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 7, 2012 MEETING

Not much in the way of April Showers to bring the May flowers, but
hope everyone's quilting garden is growing well. If you attended the
Pueblo Quilt and Stitch Expo at the Convention Center and also took in
the Southern Colorado Regional Quilt Show at El Pueblo History Museum,
then you probably got lots of inspiration.

This month's PWQ meeting program will be a trunk show by Joey
Snow. She will be showing off her various talents and will probably
have a few items for sale. She'll show you some of her latest designs
and will take questions after her talk. Joey Snow was the co-host of
the Mystery Quilt Retreat in Woodland Park with Mari Pretzer the
weekend of April 20-22.

Some reminders: Colorado Quilting Council meeting on June 23,
2012 is in Pueblo. Please bring a fat quarter to donate for the
attendees of the CQC meeting. Also there are still spaces available
(at this writing) for the workshop with Maggie Ball on June 24. Go to
the CQC website to sign up if you are interested. The July CQC
meeting is in Canon City and is another opportunity to participate in
this state quilting council in our area.

We still have some fabric for sale at $4.00/yd. Support your
club, get fabric! Remember to bring your completed squares from the
strips you cut at the April PWQ meeting for Ben and Gabby's quilt.
Return all left over fabric pieces with your squares at the meeting as
they will be used in the borders and binding. And don't forget to
fill out a personal challenge pledge form for the STEP-UP to a Higher

Several of our members made companion pieces for Alzheimers patients art work.
Some of those were fortunate enough to attend the banquet, they took photos and have
sent them to be shared. Choose the PUEBLO WEST QUILTERS GUILD ALBUMS

it says Alzheimer's Auction. Enjoy! ! !
