You will need to bring 1/2 yd. of fabric cut into 3/4 inch strips. That will be enough for a small bowl. You won't have to bring sewing machines.
The hostesses this month for refreshments are Violet Craddock, JoAnne Allen, and June Bush.
Block of the month by Katya Holen, From the Heart. Make it in red or pink with white or white on white.
All of the committees haven't been filled, so we'll have the sign up sheets out again for you. The executive board is taking over the planning committee, since no one signed up for it.
Don't forget your yearly dues are due at the February meeting. See you there.

Happy New Year 2009

Greetings and Happy New year to everyone.

As most of you know our meeting date has been changed by majority email vote to the first TUESDAY of the month. We will now have the room to ourselves.
The Pueblo West View ran the wrong date in the view. We tried very hard to make sure the "CORRECT" dates were covered.

We will have a short business meeting and a sew night. Please bring your LUV quilt pattern for 2009 cut out and ready to sew along with your sewing machine, drop cords and accessories.

See you all TUESDAY JANUARY 6TH 7 PM

December Meeting & Minutes

PUEBLO WEST QUILTERS MEETING

CHRISTMAS PARTY - DEC. 1, 2008

Out-going President Mari Pretzer called the brief business meeting to order at 6:00pm. Everyone was welcomed to the annual PWQ Christmas Party. The Secretary’s report for the Nov. 3 meeting was approved after a couple of corrections of names after a 1st by Lorraine Glach and a 2nd by Marilyn. The Treasurer’s report gave an ending balance of $1622.76 and was accepted by a 1st by Renee Kern and a 2nd by Jeanne Reneck.

OLD BUSINESS:

Mari’s president’s block: copies of the block pattern were available and Mari said there was no hurry. She showed the blocks already received and it will be a very pretty Christmas quilts of bows. She reminded everyone to sign their blocks.

NEW BUSINESS:

January is a work night and the new board said the project is a LUV quilt that could be a lap quilt about 45” X 50”. Instructions of what to bring to the meeting were passed out.

IN APPRECIATION:

PWQ has donated a total of 86 LUV quilts this year. In appreciation of everyone’s hard work and generosity a $50 gift certificate to JOANN’S was presented to a lucky drawing winner - Mary Richardson. This was most appropriate as she has been the person who has collected all the LUV quilts and presented them to the various local organizations.

Mari Pretzer then acknowledged members for their contributions to the club this year: her fellow board members; Laura Ries, Katya Holen and Virginia Biggs. Others acknowledged were:

Heidi Gard on Planning Committee, Nina Stephens in supportive help to Virginia, Charlotte Hillson for venue help at Liberty Point Rec. Center and Ecumenical Church, Chris Boder for venue help at Liberty Point Rec. Center, Chris Magan, Faye Kimble and Bernie Villanueva for BOM committee, Mary Richardson for LUV quilt donation committee, Patti Dunnington for In-House drawings help.

Everyone’s participation in PWQ is what makes this club the BEST.

DRAWINGS:

BOM of the Penguins winner was Laura Ries.

IN-HOUSE drawing winners were: Marilyn Vigil, Renee Kern, Patsy Morris and Jeanne Reneck.

BLOCK-OF-THE-MONTH

BOM for the January was presented by Vickie Becker and is called Annie’s Choice. By coincidence, this was the very first BOM that PWQ did. The block is a two color block. The colors are black with “hot” colors such as hot pink, lime green, bright orange, etc. Instructions were passed out and people were reminded to trim the 1/2 square triangles to 3 ½”.

PARTY TIME:

Mari acknowledged the hard work of the Christmas Party committee of Marilyn Vigil as chair and Charlotte Hillson (who was not in attendance due to illness) and Patsy Morris. Charlotte made paper-pieced ornaments for everyone. Many door-prizes were won throughout the evening. A gift exchange was done and all who participated enjoyed the gift giving. A very good buffet meal was also enjoyed. Many thanks to the Christmas committee for a great party.
