Pueblo West Quilters Christmas Dinner and Party
The Committee did an awesome job of making this a funfilled ending to the year.
There are pictures to check out, so see the bottom of this blog site under the heading of Shutterfly Photos for all the photos taken.
So on to the New Year - 2009 - What quilting adventures lurk with the arrival of our new board.
To start the year off we have a Block of the Month Pattern - Annie's Choice - is the block name and is to be done in Any Bright color with Black Background as shown in this demonstration.
The Block of the Month for December was won by Laura (she is hiding behind the cute Penguin which is one of the blocks she won)
Also the Presidents Block is being collected so if you have one try to bring it in January, some remembered theirs this month.
Let's join our New Board in January for all that is to be in the New Year!

November 3, 2008 Meeting
Old Business....The Holiday fair was reported on. Carolyn Collette reported the total earnings for the boutique and the 15% total the club received from the boutique amounting to a little over $100.
Evie Sheldon silent auction cashier was not present to give a report on the silent auction earnings.
Our annual Christmas party will be Dec 1st at Angelos Pizza Parlor at the River walk in downtown Pueblo 6 PM. Final reservations needed to be in to Charlotte by close of our meeting.
If you are planning on bringing a non member they must pay full price.
NEW BUSINESS: The 2009 executive board was voted in.

A combined 2008/2009 Executive board transition meeting will be held November 17 at Laura Ries's Home at 7 PM.
Patsy Morris presented Mari Pretzer's out going President's block. The block will need to have a white or white tone on tone background, dark burgandy and dark green Christmas fabrics. When completed the blocks will make a Christmas package quilt.
Block of the month was presented. It is a penguin block please bring your blocks to the December Christmas party to be drawn for.
Mary Richardson and Joey Snow provided drinks and refreshments.
Discussion took place on holiday project ideas.

A word from the President
DON'T FORGET ABOUT OUR HOLIDAY FAIR ON SATURDAY. WE WILL SET UP AT 10 AM AND START FOR BUSINESS AT NOON. THE FAIR ENDS AT 5 AND WE WILL CLEAN UP AND BE DONE BY 6PM.
WE WILL APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!
I WILL BE HANGING QUILTS ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON FROM 1PM - 3:30PM SO IF YOU ARE FREE AND WANT TO HELP OUT, COME ON IN.

The October meeting was called to order by Mari Pretzer in our new meeting place The Ecumenical Church on Spaulding.
Old business was discussed. Lapel pins are being sold by the guild for $4.00 each. Our November quilt fair was discussed. Head of each committee chair gave a report.

Chris Magan gave us the new block of the month. She also gave a demo on quilt design using crayons and coloring book pages.

The party committee has reserved Angelo's Pizzaria at the Riverwalk Banquet Room for our party on Dec. 1st - 6pm. Your cost for the buffet will be $7 - the club will pay the rest of the dinner cost. Give your money and reservation to Marilyn Vigil, Patsy Morris or Charlotte Hillson as soon as possible. Plan on coming and having a very festive night - this committee has worked very hard to make this a great party!
HOLIDAY FAIR
There is alot of excitement for this fund-raiser! Your silent auction items can be brought in anytime - let us know what the value of the item is so the committee can figure the starting bids.
Remember - you need to be a member to put things in the quilt sale, show or the boutique.
I would like to display some of your wonderful quilts so please let me know if you want your quilts hung and fill out the form at the bottom of the newsletter and submit to me as soon as possible. Pin the quilt ID tag part on your quilt when you bring it in.

This change was necessary because renovations at the Fiesta Room at SunHaven Community Center are not quite done! Majestic Baptist was very gracious enough to let us use their fellowship hall at the last minute.
BRING YOUR SEWING MACHINES AND YOU WILL WORK ON YOUR DONATION PROJECTS FOR THE QUILT FAIR IN NOVEMBER.
WE WILL HAVE AN OPEN FORUM FOR QUESTIONS ON ANYTHING QUILT RELATED. IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY PROJECTS, THERE MAY BE SOME HELP AT THE MEETING, SO BRING IT IN.

August 4 2008 meeting
Block of the month
Quilts of Valor donations have started to come in. All quilts must be red,white and blue and be at least 50" x 60". You can donate quilts, blocks material to help make quilts. These quilts will go specifically to Fort Carson soldiers "Wounded Warriors". This year they are in need of over 400 quilts at present they have around 75.

Message from the President
Its time for a Hot August Night! Come to the meeting Monday, August 4th, 7PM at Liberty Point Recreation Center and get some hot tips on using specialty threads for quilting and embroidery from local quilter, Jan Shuping, from Creative Sewing. Jan will share her wonderful knowledge and expertise so you, too, can create some great projects.

My thanks to all who gave me names of places to check for our meetings. We have several options to consider, and we are trying to make the best decision for the future of our club. The board will be making a final decision next week and will report to you at the club meeting.

July 7 2008 Meeting
Carolyn Collette asked for help in making Quilts of Valor for wounded Fort Carson troops. The quilts need to be red,white & blue. You can make blocks, quilt tops or an entire quilt. Quilts must be at least 50" x 60"

The August block of the month was demonstrated. It will be red, white & blue log cabin pattern with an appliqued blue star.

July's meeting was a work night. We enjoyed an ice cream social and then set to work making Sudoku quilts.

Block Exchange:
The blocks brought in by members were very interesting, in that the pattern only gave you the pieces and you could arrange them in any design your mind could contrive.
Yet another month of a pelethora of amazing creations. It is always a joy and inspiration to see all that is accomplished by the Pueblo West Quilters....check out the pictures on our shutterfly site LINK is at the bottom of the page.
We were blessed to have many quilts donated this month, to be given out to those who need some comfort and warmth in their lives.
